San Diego #1

I couldn't even count how many times I've been there. Every time we arrive, it just feels homey and nice, we have our little routine and everyone does their own thing. We always stay at the Pacific Terrace Hotel in Pacific Beach so basically you can walk everywhere you need to go. I think I've never had to go further inland than like 3 blocks and everything you need is along the beach (a great place for families).

Throughout the years we have figured out which restaurants we like most and I will fill you in. I'm sure you're all dying to find out, aren't you?

DAY 1

I'm not sure whether this counts as a day, because it is technically the end of the "road trip day". We arrived around sunset, settled in quickly and were quite eager to get to the restaurant. Isabel's Cantina (we just call it Cantina) was suggested to us from the hotel two years ago. It's asian/mexican fusion cuisine (aka. it's amazing), close by and you can usually get a table immediately. This might be due to the season, we're there during the winter... The place is not on the beach promenade, so it's "hidden" in a more residential area, which means that many of the customers are locals.

The service is friendly, but go there with some time to spare, because we waited quite some time for our food to arrive. Was it worth it? Absolutely.

I wanted to try something new this time, so I went for the Udon Noodle Bowl. It was so good, but so filling that I couldn't even finish it. Also, if you don't like peanuts, this is NOT for you, the sauce is really peanutty.

My sister Charlotte and my dad both ordered a salad with tomato and pesto.

My brother William had the Asia Grill with extra chicken (a boy needs his protein).

Dad had Soy Chorizo Tacos (now that's fusion cuisine, alright). He really liked it!

And mom had the Buddha Bowl, which was much more liquid than my bowl due to the coconut milk. Mom and Charlotte preferred this one, I liked mine :))

Good meal = happy Emma. The thing is, I can't finish a meal without dessert, it's just wrong. We almost got a round of the delicious flourless chocolate cake they make (I can't recommend it enough), but William preferred getting some froyo on the way back. Germany is catching up on the froyo scene, but America has got it all figured out. I couldn't miss out. So we ditched the chocolate cake and went to Yogurtland.

Well... cheers I guess!
