A few moments of the first week thrown together: it has been a whirlwind.
- On monday evening, we had no food at home and it was Pascals last dinner, so we went to a restaurant at the harbor. It gets dark very early around this time of the year, so the view was... inexistent.
The restaurant serves lots of fishy food. Surprise surprise! I ordered the catch of the day, just because it was the most local and "adventurous" thing on the menu.
To be honest, the food is good but not oh-so-amazing, but I had a really nice time with the other volunteers/interns.
- Teala and I had come up with a foolproof plan to make the rainy day just a little bit better: bake brownies! Did I say foolproof? Oh... well, let's just say it burned after two minutes in the oven, we put way too much egg and butter in it, and this is what it looked like (after cutting off the burnt top):
I know what you're all thinking: yummy yummy...
- One evening, the weather was getting better and we decided to take a walk down to the ocean, which is literally 20 meters away from our house. We chased down the stairs, down to the rocks and the water...
And this!
- We didn't coach last week because of the bad weather, but we still have to show up to give the kids a sense of routine and responsibility. Most of them do not come in bad weather because they might not have shoes or warm clothes. One day, the weather was very unpredictable, it rained all day long until we arrived at the training fields and the sun came out. Shirin, the hockey coach, brought her adorable new little puppy. At least that kept the kids entertained for a while.
