We spent the day digging around... and teaching kids how to plant trees.
Before we could get to the fun part, we picked up the trees at the clubhouse and dragged them to the truck.
We had a harder time doing that than I would like to admit... but soon we were ready to go.
Teala, Anchelle and I rode on the back of the truck and had the best time!
Much too quickly, we arrived at the Gansbaai Primary School, where we met up with the kids and teachers. Food for Sport is a project created by the FFSA in order to teach kids how to grow their own fruits and veggies and therefore eat healthily. Two kids share one green box, where they can plant and harvest their veggies. Today, the emphasis was set on planting fruit trees that will grow and grow and give the kids fruits for many years (hopefully).
Almost all the kids were motivated and started to carry compost and shovels around.
Or each other...
These little people wanted to join us and followed the hustle and bustle from the other side of the fence.
Digging holes isn't always so easy, luckily Anchelle didn't hesitate long and took things into hand.
So did I.
To top it all off, the sky was clear and we got one of the nicest sunsets. South Africa really is beautiful.
Yay Emma! Love the story and the sunset picture! Greetings and much love from your family in Hamburg, Dad
