To start off 2014 the right way, we slept in. Needless to say, we didn't feel like wandering around to get breakfast, so we just stayed at the hotel and had a bite there. They have granola and yogurt and fruit, oh lucky me! (For those of you who enjoy heartier things, they also have waffles, bacon, potatoes, eggs, toast, muffins etc. You won't leave starving.)
We went for a little walk, right past JRDN, then to the end of the pier.
This is some cool graffiti artwork next to Taco Surf (I won't bore you with pictures of today's lunch).
As we didn't actually ride on the roller coaster the day before, Mom, Charlotte and I decided to give it a go while the guys were bathing in the waves.
It's 6$ a ticket, so it ain't cheap, but you don't really have a choice as this is a must-do! When you're way at the top, you have an incredible view on the ocean AND the bay. The wind is flowing through your hair, the sun is shining on your face, the sweet smell of ocean and popcorn is tickling your nose and there is no place in the world you'd rather be. Trust me on this one.
Before we knew it, the sun was setting. We followed the music, wanting to know where it was coming from. We found the Wave House.
The FlowRider/FlowBarrel is an artificial wave that surfers can use to perfect their tricks. They can ride on it until they fall and get washed out of the wave. Then the next one can give it a try. It is really cool to watch them, all of the people in the beach club are standing there and can't take their eyes off the surfers.
And guys guys guys! Listen to me, and listen good. They play the most awesome electro music. It makes it all look like a show and you just want the moment to last forever. I asked them what they were playing and they told me it was some satellite radio (Sirius XM), which costs but has no commercials. They have lots of different channels, from news to hip hop. The Wave House plays bpm. Now, I did my research and I found a way to access the music without subscribing to Sirius XM. Bpm has a twitter account and they post their playlist! All you need to do is search for the song in YouTube and then you can listen to it all day long. You're welcome.
(I'm not an electro music connaisseur, I just like this soft electro and remix thing they've got going on. So, if you're a little mainstream/electro music fan like me, you'll love it!)
For dinner, we went to a place we discovered only last year. It's called World Famous for a reason. (Ok, it's not actually world famous or anything, sorry I was the one who had to break it to you...) BUT they serve good food.
Every main dish comes with a soup or salad. Yay!
Pork tenderloin. Love.
2 x cold water Atlantic Salmon with fancy mac&cheese (haha).
This place is just right for families, as it combines good food with a pleasant, laid-back atmosphere. Try to get a table on the patio, you get the best ocean view!
On the way out, don't forget to take some candy (it tastes like key lime, I think it's supposed to be Caipi taste...). That was my dessert that evening, so I might have grabbed a handful and eaten them on the walk home. Don't tell!
x
