Nothing is better than sushi... right?
Well, how about sushi accompanied by some fireworks? Yeah, now that's more like it!
Every year, Hamburg celebrates the beginning of spring/summer with the Kirschblütenfest (= cherry blossom festival = hanami). It's a japanese tradition that comes with two major advantages: sushi and fireworks. Could you have guessed?
Margaux's family was having a party, so all the parents and the "kids" cheerfully gathered on the balcony and waited for the fireworks. Luckily, there was enough to keep us entertained. Raise your chopsticks like Marie, because sushi is coming!
But first... check out the view and all the people who came for the festivities! There were thousands more, even on boats on the Alster (the lake in Hamburg).
The skyline.
Everyone waiting patiently on their boats.
The sushiiii (part of it anyways)!
Me waiting for dessert patiently.
Aaaand there it is, strawberries with mascarpone and whipped cream.
Oh wait, I think I hear something! The fireworks are starting!
Everyone else also heard, and it wasn't long before the Alster was the stage for a nice firework show.
Before we all knew it , it was over and peace returned to the lake, which, to be honest, looked quite japanese to me with all the little boats and the pink sky.
The night set in, but that doesn't mean the evening was over.
Not for us "kids" anyway, we went to a club called Golden Cut, and the I went home to get some sleep, as I had to get myself to Uni on time on Saturday... but that's another story. All I can say for now is: sun, music and food. Doesn't that sound promising? If you want, I might tell you about it...
